Over the hills and far away

High on a hill lived a lonely dog her name was Nala

she lived in a house no bigger than a shoe

Every day she looked over into the distant hills hoping to see a friend.

Low and behold after living in her house for 25 lonely years she happened upon a goat herder whose name was Gregory. Gregory said to Nala "Get thee gone you little twit" and tried to hit her with his goat stick

Nala ran as fast as she could from Gregory because she knew goat sticks bloody hurt.

After running for 3 days solid, scavenging for food where she could, eating only dry wood and ants and drinking rainwater when it fell from the sky

she spied an old sugar factory in the distance and said to herself if only I lived somewhere like that

As she was looking at the sugar factory she saw the mean goat herder and heard him soulfully singing  "how much is the doggy in the window, the one with the waggley tail" a tear fell from his eye and she realised he was not mean but a miserable and lonely old git
She thought long and hard but had to speak to him so barked and barked " the goat herder looked in astonishment "thys a bloody dog, I ah thought tha were a rat/gerbily thing"

with that the goat herder took Nala to his sugar factory

Nala had one last look back at her old life and the words "its my life, now or never cause I ain't gonna live forever, I just want to live while I'm alive" came into her head

Now its sun lounger and sunglasses for Nala

And how they laugh when they recall the story of the lonely dog and the mean goat herder

“For me a house or an apartment becomes a home when you add one set of four legs, a happy tail, and that indescribable measure of love that we call a dog.”
